Lib Dem county councillors have called for Cllr. Rosemary Bromwich to resign after care services received a poor report from government inspection
Adult Care Services Inspectors have marked Conservative policies on adult care as a 'one-star failure', said Lib Dem community services spokesperson Cllr. David Garlick. In response to the findings, the Liberal Democrats have called for the Cabinet Member responsible to resign.
"Cllr Bromwich has singularly failed to ensure that services to the County's most vulnerable people are protected from her bean-counting business colleagues. Despite being told by the public, service users, staff and the Lib Dems - among others - that the cuts were too far, too fast and putting services at risk, she allowed budget cuts to continue.
"She has watched from the sidelines as bottom line accountancy and political expediency have allowed budget pressures to overwhelm the needs of the people she is charged to protect. I call on Cllr Bromwich to do the decent thing and resign her Cabinet post and allow someone else have a try. I doubt that they could make a worse job of it" said Cllr Garlick
"Coming on top of the damming criticism of Northamptonshire's Schools the mean minded Tory chickens are coming home to roost. I do hope that Cllr Bromwich will take responsibility for this failure and not resort to blaming the staff like her Education Cabinet Colleague."
