Liberal Democrat Leader of the Opposition, and Police Authority Member, Cllr Brendan Glynane has called on the Conservative administration to come clean on cuts to the budget for PCSOs. Cllr Glynane put a question to the Conservative Leader of the Council at a recent meeting, but the Conservatives refused to give a straight answer.
Cllr Glynane said "What are the Conservatives hiding? Evasive answers from the Conservatives to straight forward questions do not build trust and confidence. The Conservative Leader of the Council needs to come clean and be open and honest with local residents."
"The County Council contributes half a million pounds a year to help tackle crime on our streets, which helps pays for 139 PCSOs. We can't gamble with public safety. The Conservatives need to own up and tell us whether they are going to make sure our streets are safer and protect this vital funding for the next 4 years or not."
